it’s our pleasure to welcome Serendipitous Space: Alexandra Reichart and Matthias Krauß to our subnetAIR program 2025!
As every year, a mixture of local and international artistic positions has been sought out. The selected project proposals and persons are characterised by ambitious objectives and thematic relevance.
The jury’s decision was to give one subnetAIR slot to Serendipitous Space: Alexandra Reichart and Matthias Krauß because „Alexandra Reichart and Matthias Krauß’s project proposal ‚Luminous Touch‘ – which explores touch through the use of two suits fitted with joysticks, LED lights and vibration motors – adresses through a performative interaction with the audience the questions of how we can explore human touch in new ways, or how people can immerse themselves in each other’s sensations, extending to the negotiation of personal boundaries and consent.“
Serendipitous Space: Alexandra Reichart and Matthias Krauß on their project:
Luminous Touch is an interactive project that explores the concept of touch through two suits covered in joysticks, LED lights, and vibration motors.
Performers or audience members can use the suits to change the lights or sounds in the room, or the lights in one suit or the other. Because each suit is equipped with a large number of vibration motors, every touch is amplified by the motors. This lends itself to exploring our themes through the medium of performance.
The guiding questions of Luminous Touch are: How can we explore human touch in a new and different way? How can we experiment together with how to touch and get close to each other? How can we share experiences and immerse ourselves in each other’s sensations? How can we explore personal boundaries, consent, and the physicality of human
interaction?
Serendipitous Space: Alexandra Reichart and Matthias Krauß form a artist duo, combining their diverse expertise to craft innovative artworks that merge technology, craft-based skills and performance elements. Their collaborative practice transcends traditional artistic boundaries, creating immersive installations that invite viewers to rethink their perceptions of art, technology, and interaction.
