Pioneering media artist and Troika Ranch co-founder Mark Coniglio
will discuss his current perspective on digitally enhanced performance:
where we‘ve been, where we are now, and where we might
be going. Specifically, he will contrast the dominant approach of the
„digital reflection“ – where the media serves as a „mirror“ of the
performers action – with the idea of a „digital intervention“ where
systems or algorithms germane to digital technology are used to intervene and disturb the creative process.

Composer and media artist Mark Coniglio is recognized as a pioneering
force in the field of interactive performance. He co-founded the media
intensive dance group Troika Ranch in 1994, and later created Isadora –
a software tool that provides deep interactive control over digital media.
He recently received the World Technology Award, which recognized his
influence and long-term legacy in art and technology.
