CONTEMPORARY CURATING WITH A SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION AS FOCUS
Florian Weigl will be our third subnetTALK guest 2020.
Due to the corona crisis the TALK will take place online on Facebook.
V2_Curator Florian Weigl will share his curatorial practice in which he focuses on different ways of collaborating. V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media is an institution working with artist presenting producing and publishing research at the interface of art, technology and society my entire practice evolves around co-producing, presenting and sharing. During this talk Florian will explain three ways in which he collaborates on long terms with artists and researchers in the development and further development of works, embedding the commissioned works into V2_’s long term research and in a way in which he creates a place for experiments and future development from those live experiments. All meant to keep the conversation going and to in one way or another keep working on the project – aiming at a sustainable relationship with an artist, not one in which the artists has to ‘hop’ from commission-partner to commission-partner but dive in dept into communal research.
Florian Weigl (1985) is curator at V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media. As curator and researcher he is interested in the intersection between art, technology and it’s social impact. He joined the curatorial team in 2015 working on both presenting and co-producing works and research.
Curatorial projects at V2_ he worked on include the live experiment series 3×3. He initiated, amongst others the group exhibition “The Gig is Up” (V2_, 2016, co-curated with Sarah Cook), solo projects and exhibitions Jonas Lund’s Operation Earnest Voice (2018), Philip Vermeulen’s The Physical Rythm Machine (2017 at Ars Electronica, 2018 at V2_) Marnix de Nijs‘ Ghosted Views (V2_, 2019) and Johannes Langkamp’s solo exhibition Sun Tracing (V2_, 2019).
