TALK:
„Machine does not make change“
In his upcoming subnetTALK. Yannick Hofmann breaks with the false promises of technophilia, ironically posing that machines do not make change. Through selected works, he presents his critical engagement with disruptive technologies, using examples such as interactive installations, participatory formats, and hardware hacks of everyday objects. Hofmann challenges the technological status quo, unpacking the cultural and social implications embedded in these systems, and offering new perspectives on the human-machine relationship.
SPEAKER:
Yannick Hofmann is an artist and researcher based in Germany. Embracing the role of the media artist as experimenter, he rewires machines, repurposes infrastructures, and reshapes the machine-user relationship, revealing the cultural logic embedded in these systems. Currently a researcher at Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, exploring human-machine collaboration, he previously led Art-Science-Tech projects at ZKM, where he worked for nearly a decade.
