In ihren Kunstwerken thematisiert Michaela Schwentner die Apparatur „Film“: Sie ist stolze Besitzerin von 200 DVDs und einer Festplatte mit filmischen Schätzen. Dies ist Michaela Schwentners „Werkzeugkasten“ aus dem sie sich ausschnittsweise bedient: Filmszenen aus dem Autorenkino der 1960er / 70er und 80er Jahre werden verfremdet, oder mit Darstellerinnen nachgestellt und dann fotografiert. Unter Verwendung alter Filmmaterialien entstehen neue Szenen, die sie gerne in Bezug setzt mit literarischen Werken oder fotografischem Material.
Michaela Schwentner stach durch ihre Vita wie die thematisch für subnet 2019 passende Auseinandersetzung mit dem Spannungsfeld Reflexion und Konstruktion zwischen persönlicher Erinnerung, kollektiven Gedächtnis und medialer Maschinen hervor.

Michaela Schwentner stood out through her vita, as well as the thematic correlations with the subnet theme 2019, which deals with the field of tension reflection and construction between personal memory, collective memory and media machines.
In her artworks, Michaela Schwentner addresses the “Film” apparatus: she is the proud owner of 200 DVDs and a hard disk with cinematic treasures. This is Michaela Schwentner’s “toolbox” from which she uses excerpts: Film scenes from the author’s cinema of the 1960s / 70s and 80s are alienated, or recreated with actresses and then photographed. Using old film material, she creates new scenes which she likes to relate to literary works or photographic material.
